Drift with the Wind

 Drift with the Wind is a single-channel video installation that explores the relationship between bodily movement, perception, and the unstable boundary between physical experience and visual imagination. Filmed beneath moving clouds, the work combines the artist's rotating body with smartphone recording, allowing facial features and drifting cloud formations to intersect within a continuously shifting image.

Rather than presenting a narrative, the work unfolds through rotation, duration, and layered perception. The smartphone functions not simply as a recording device but as an extension of bodily awareness, translating movement into an evolving visual field where the body and the sky momentarily share the same space. Through this process, familiar physical experience is displaced into a perceptual condition that resists fixed interpretation.

Continuing Le Xi's ongoing exploration of simple actions and perceptual experience, Drift with the Wind investigates the subtle gap between observation and imagination, movement and image, presence and transformation. By reducing visual language to bodily motion, light, and duration, the work invites viewers to reconsider how perception is continuously reconstructed through the interaction between the body, technology, and the natural environment.
