Le Xi in the Sky

I want to create a work that exists between perception and experience, aiming for direct and simple expression. It should serve as a visual, perceptual, and even physical interpretation, rather than just a literary addition. I hope this work can open up "gaps" between different things, even if just for a brief moment, perhaps revealing fleeting possibilities from an unconscious state.

Le Xi in the Sky explores perception and experience through body movement and cloud imagery.

My work, "Fly with The Wind," embodies this concept. Through the movement of my body and the layering of perceptions, I aim to showcase the relationship between perception and experience. Under the white clouds, I often think of the surrealist artist Magritte and his visions of a free sky filled with clouds. To bring my imagination to life, I use my phone to scan the clouds above me and capture the movement of my body as it follows them. The phone not only replaces my field of vision but also captures my body's dynamics, making my head touch the clouds and transforming my facial features into expressions of the clouds, allowing them to become my embodiment. This process intertwines bodily movement with perception and experience, becoming a crucial part of my work. I spin between reality and the surreal, striving to cross that blurry boundary, reflecting on the fleeting "gaps" between myself and the clouds. Through the visual overlaps created by the images in front of and behind the phone lens, I highlight the intersection of action and imagination, creating a "gap" full of infinite possibilities.

Regarding my relationship with the clouds, I often feel lost in thought. It’s not just about the intertwining of hope and loss; it’s also about coordinating the abstract with the concrete. I realize that the clouds connect lightness and freedom, while my body carries the weight of reality. Through spinning, I try to make visible the unseen burdens, allowing the audience to feel subtle connections in an instant.

I hope this work offers an experience of the "gap," enabling the audience to feel the passage of time and the fusion of moments. This “gap” illustrates how different elements are intertwined, breaking the boundaries of time and everyday logic. I look forward to viewers approaching it with an open mind, to "look at the sky, the clouds, and feel the lightness of the wind," capturing that fleeting sense of “freedom” in the mix of visuals and sensations. Meditating on this “gap space” is the core of my work and serves as a bridge for my dialogue with the audience.
