Chance and Creation: The Art of Raindrops by Le Xi

art

I'm living a life of travel, used to breaking the usual functions of many things. For me, life is all about keeping things simple. I focus on the essentials and enjoy the random experiences that come my way. I believe in going with the flow, so I don’t follow strict rules or set specific goals.I simply react to what’s right in front of me, and my art reflects that philosophy. For example, my piece 'Raindrops' was inspired by a long stretch of rainy weather.

Le Xi's artwork depicting raindrops striking the ground like fireworks, creating a vibrant and dynamic interplay of color and movement.

In "Raindrops," I document falling raindrops to feel the mysterious forces of the universe. This creative process is a direct response to several days of rain. By observing and recording the raindrops, I blend the randomness of life with my artistic approach. I see the Earth's gravity as an invisible brush, allowing the act of painting to happen naturally between gravity and the raindrops. I capture these moments with my phone and then use a computer to break down each raindrop, expressing their depth and energy through changes in color and brightness. The final form of the artwork is unknown to me, but this mechanical process lets me experience the flow of energy and matter in nature, revealing its mystery and beauty.

I aim to incorporate the energy of gravity and raindrops into my work. By adjusting the color and brightness of each pixel, I use brighter colors and larger pixels to depict the ripples when raindrops hit the ground, making them appear more three-dimensional and showcasing their interaction with the surrounding environment. I can almost see the sky giving a firework display to the earth, realizing the grandeur and mystery of raindrops. Through this process of repetition, I gradually understand the meaning and value of replication. This piece not only expresses my awe for nature and trust in technology but also offers another experience of the universe's deep mysteries.

In my art, I strive to amplify the inner meaning of things, focusing on the process itself. My work is like an unplanned journey—simple and restrained—aimed at drawing attention to everyday encounters and the experience of mysterious forces, sparking thoughts about a weightless yet real aspect of life. Through the creation process, my art engages with nature while exploring deeper aspects of life. In this journey, I feel a profound sense of freedom and beauty.
