Breezes of Chongqing Summer

Breezes of Chongqing Summer originates from a sustained observation of the breeze interacting with a window curtain during the artist's daily life in the studio. To reveal the invisible secrets of the wind, the curtain was intentionally replaced with a colored strip fabric to capture its delicate traces. The fluctuation of the fabric strips translates the unseen flow of air into subtle variations of color, motion, and temporal duration, turning the abstract breeze into an autonomous visual phenomenon.

As attention lingers upon the trembling fabric, perception begins to waver between color and wind, raising questions about the boundaries between the artificial and the natural: is the flutter merely a trace left by the breeze, or has it become an independent visual phenomenon in its own right? It evokes Paul Klee’s vitalistic trembling lines, Mark Rothko’s spatial color fields vibrating like musical scales, and even the mystical flutter of a butterfly's wings on the horizon. Rather than plainly declaring "the everyday is art," the work demonstrates how mundane objects shed their original identities through focused perception, charting an inexplicable "blank space" between lived experience and the physical world.
