Le Xi: Art as a Reflection of Hidden Realities

Art is a journey of exploration and learning that sparks curiosity and opens up endless possibilities. During this process, hidden elements often reveal an exciting ambiguity. For instance, observing flames in daily life captivates me with the space created between their physical and spiritual aspects. This ambiguity is embodied in the flames, which are rich in energy and ever-changing.

Le Xi (奚乐): An abstract representation of hidden realities in art.

In creating my piece "Blank Flame," I focused on a small spark, capturing its quick movements alongside the breeze. Using my phone and an old wooden ruler, I recorded the flame's subtle changes frame by frame, employing image layering to uncover the secrets of fire. This process revealed that the flicker of the flame and its existence are two distinct layers. By layering the flame's movements with the ruler's measurements, the heat transforms into a tension between the ruler and nothingness, magnifying gaps in perception and redefining the experience.

Through this approach, I aim to evoke a fleeting, ever-changing parallel world. I want viewers to feel the boundaries between existence and disappearance through trembling images, encouraging contemplation of their own experiences within the realm of the quantifiable and unquantifiable.

I believe that good art often hides deeper meanings. It reflects a space between experience and perception that is not linear but filled with tension and entanglement. My work explores the mystery of materialization, inviting viewers to experience the world differently.
