Redefining Identity: AAA-AAA by Le Xi

My work,  AAA-AAA by Le, is a continuation of my exploration after the 2017 piece Husband and Wife Run in Sync. In Husband and Wife Run in Sync, I focused on the synchronization between partners and the idea of "pure behavioral dynamics" in everyday life. In AAA-AAA by Le, I further explore the subtle balance between individuals and interactions, as well as between specific situations and abstract forms.

Inspired by the work of Marina Abramović and Ulay, I emphasize the dynamic nature of their mouth-to-mouth interaction and push it into new dimensions, exploring broader concepts of identity and existence.

To highlight the energy of the actions themselves, I deliberately hide the participants' images and use digital editing to depersonalize them. This approach frees individuals from fixed identities, allowing us to reevaluate the pure physical connections between people and their interactions with space and surfaces. This not only magnifies the boundaries between individuals but also challenges our sense of self.

In the creative process, I use positive and negative space to express the complex relationships between individuals and the outside world, exploring new possibilities. I combine specific interactive scenes with abstract colored lines and movements, making colors and shapes not just visual elements but representations of vibrant light and energy. By merging mechanical movement with abstract expressions, I aim to create a visual tension that enhances the connections between perception, personal experience, patterns, life, and the physical space, while also focusing on the dislocation and absence of experience in the physical world, thus heightening our sensory awareness.

Through these explorations, I hope to reveal the balance between individuality and interaction, consider how identity can change, and challenge traditional understandings of identity and behavior. Formally, I expand on the original work by using technology and depersonalization, striving to simplify complex human relationships into their most basic elements. I want viewers to experience deep minimalism through pure colors, shapes, and actions. In this process, I encourage contemplation and reflection.
